5 Things You Probably Don't Know About LeBron James

LeBron James is said to be the best player in the world. At least, that's what the commentators and announcers tell you. But what don't they tell you about LeBron. Well, I'm about to tell you 5 things that you probably don't know about LeBron James.

5. LeBron James is 4th in Playoff Turnovers for all-time.
LeBron has given up the ball a lot and he is not even done with his career. He has 625 total turnovers and is only 72 Turnovers away from passing up Magic Johnson. He has been very careless with the ball averaging 3.5 Turnovers per game in the playoffs.

4. When LeBron is wide open, he only makes about 38% of his shots.
Wide open means that there is no defender within 6ft. Those shots should be automatic. Instead, he only makes 38% of those shots!

3. LeBron does not do that well in Isolation.

LeBron usually goes into isolation, and the longer he stays in it, the more his field goal percentage goes down. And his 3 point% actually drops below 30%. Great isolation players like James Harden actually have their percentages rise.

2. When the team is healthy, LeBron only passes to Kevin Love and Kyrie.
This one to me isn't a shocker. LeBron claims that he plays point and works the offense, but he really doesn't run an offense. The fact is LeBron almost immediately goes into isolation then passes to one of the stars that he plays with (Kevin Love or Kyrie Irving). In fact, Kevin Love rarley even passes to the other players. Does that sound like an offense. J.R. Smith get passed to by LeBron about 4.2 times per game. In fact, John Wall gives out more passes to Bradley Beal then LeBron does to Kyrie but Wall also gives more to all the starters and dishes about 4-5 per game to bench players Rasul Butler, Otto Porter, and Kris Humphris. That is a player running an offense. Getting not just the stars involved, but everyone.

1. LeBron is a below league average shooter.


I hear all the time that LeBron is a great shooter. All the time I hear that. I say, "he isn't the shooter you think he is". LeBron is indeed below league average on his shooting. You just have to look at the stats. Take a look at this chart that www.bballbreakdown.com provides.

As you can see, from 5 to 22 feet, he is below league average, and from 23 to 30 feet he is also below league average. And yet, LeBron takes more 3 pointers than most players, take a look at the shot Frequency chart provided by www.bballbreakdown.com below.

These are the areas where LeBron shoots under 35% from. That's a lot of blue. As you can see, outside of the paint, he doesn't shoot that well. And it's unfortunate for players that are idolized like LeBron for them to have these stats that go unnoticed. Many people don't even realize how this guy plays and how he shoots. Rockets VS Clippers (game 1)

Final Score: Clippers win 117-101



Clippers lead 1-0

Rockets looked like they had it. Then the Clippers woke up. The Rockets lost it. Then the Clippers won. Let's take a look at what the Rockets did wrong.

Dwight Howard did his job. He dominated over DeAndre Jordan. This was the worst game in terms of turnovers this year though. James Harden had 9 turnovers in the game. That can't happen. Josh Smith should not be putting up 5 threes. Corey Brewer can't put up 5 threes and miss all of them either. They both shot horrible from the floor. That needs to change. If you look at the Points off turnovers for the Clippers, it was bad. The Clippers had 34 points off of the Rockets turnovers. That needs to stop. One great thing was that the Clippers only had 40 points in the paint. They did give them 13-31 threes though. Obviously, there are a lot of problems for this Rockets team to fix.

Austin Rivers played great as he replaced Chris Paul. He had a good 17 points. Like the Rockets, the Clippers had way too many turnovers. Also, Glen Davis needs to pick it up on the defensive end. He had a defensive rating of 144.7. That's rough. One positive thing to look at was that they had more personal fouls drawn than the Rockets. Blake Griffin had a triple-double but he did have 5 turnovers. However, this Clippers team looks like they're in good shape. I think that if they keep it up, they will be looking into the conference finals.

Grizzlies VS Trailblazers (game 2)

Final Score: Grizzlies win 97-82

The Trailblazers are having a tough time in this series. Let's take a look at their problems. First off, Damien Lillard was shooting horribly. He shot 30% from the floor and 20% from three point range. Next off, they didn't do too great on offense on passing and getting open shots as Coach Nick described. They shot 71 contested shots and only 41 open shots. They only made 19 of 31 shots at the rim. They are simply not getting open shots and not running through the offense. If they are to win at home now, they have to run their offense.

The Grizzlies were great. One thing that they did well of was getting Marc Gasol touches. Marc Gasol had 5 assists in the game and 86 touches in all. The next thing was their defense. It was great, and their bench was even better. Green, Koufos, Udrih, and Carter all had a defensive rating under 90. That is great. Everyone on the Grizzlies had a positive net rating as all of their offensive ratings were better than their defensive, while all of the Trailblazers were a negative net rating. The next thing is that they limited their turnovers to only 5. That is great as the Traiblazers will feed off of transition points. If they keep this up, they will be moving on.

Bulls VS Bucks (game 1)

Final Score: Bulls win 103-91



Bulls lead series 1-0

This is tough. This Bucks team is going against a great offensive and defensive team. Not to mention that Derrick Rose is back and he is healthy. Him and Jimmy Butler had a combined total of 48 points. The other part the the Bucks lost badly in was rebounding. The Bulls had a total of 52 rebounds while the Bucks had 41.

One thing that the Bucks could do better is use Bayless a little more. He had 11 points and lead the team with assists with 5. That is pretty good. One thing the Bucks did great with though is getting steals. Kris Middleton got a total of 4 steals in the game. When I was watching the game, I saw both teams going after the ball all the time. If it was going out of bounds, someone would get it.

The Bulls really need to limit their turnovers. All their starters had 2 turnovers except for Rose who had 4. It might not be a problem right now, but it could be a problem later if they meet the Cavs in the second round. They need to make the easy passes. I saw Rose take a lot of gambles with his passes, throwing skip passes sideline to sideline.

The Bulls can't rest. Jason Kidd is going to try to find a way to beat this team and the Bulls need to be ready for that. They need to keep the momentum going. They can't stop.

Wow, Monday night was the worst night for a lot of players. Let's just look at the Turnover highlights for some players

A number of players had 4 turnovers. Many had 3. Look at the teams that had a bunch of TO.

Bucks: 17 TO
Pacers: 18 TO
Wizards: 19 TO

Cavaliers: 24 TO

There was just way too many bad plays and pass last night. Teams like the Nets need to cut down their turnovers if they are to make the playoffs. It was probably the worst night for turnovers in the NBA. Now, I can't say it was the worst without pointing out that Russell Westbrook only had 2 turnovers while his team only had 8. That's pretty good. For the rest of the league, not so good.

Are Russell Westbrook or LeBron James MVP candidates?

Russell Westbrook and LeBron James are trying to tell the NBA that they are MVP. Westbrook’s most recent game was a triple-double, 10 rebounds, 12 points, and 17 assists. However, it was a near quadruple double as he had 6 Turnovers. LeBron James had 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists, but he had 5 turnovers. As these players are gathering triple-double, they are also gathering way too many turnovers. LeBron James is 3^rd in the league in turnovers. 2^nd is DeMarcus Cousins. The only player that averages more turnovers per game, is, you guessed it, Russell Westbrook. When you average more Turnovers than DeMarcus Cousins, you know something is wrong. Now we look at a player like Stephen Curry, he averages about 1 turnover less than LeBron James. Last year, MVP Kevin Durant averaged about a turnover less than Westbrook. The other fact, the term MVP means the player that is most valuable on the court. The +/- for Stephen Curry is 11.7. He leads the NBA while Russell Westbrook’s is only 4.4. Lebron leads his team, but not the NBA and he has 7.7. So my challenge for you Westbrook and LeBron, instead of being stat chasers like Oscar Robertson, and be more like Bill Russell who valued winning over stats. Bring the turnovers down under 4 and then I just might consider you as MVP players.
